Keira Knightley and Lindsay Lohan are apparently on the long list of names being lined up to star in an adaptation of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights. John Maybury has just signed up to direct the big screen version of the classic novel, reports the Daily Mail. "It's about young passion and how it goes horribly wrong," he's quoted as saying. "It starts in the Liverpool docks where we first see Heathcliff as a child, the son of a prostitute. "Industrial England was so sordid then, so there's something a bit more rugged and raw. This notion of repressed passion is much sexier than the usual bodice ripper." He continued: "I wouldn't count Keira out, but it's whether or not she wants to get back into period costume. Also, there are some exciting actresses coming up who seem to appear these days fully formed." Commenting on Li-Lo, he added: "I really believe in the girl and she's coming out from the other side of her problems - she just needs to be treated seriously. I don't count her out." Obviously I'll choose Keira. But who knows, if this John Maybury wants to take a risk, go ahead Edit: Look at that, he was 'Best Time of Our Lives' director. Maybe Lindsay can get a chance. This post has been edited by Mooky heart Ema: Feb 1 2008, 04:15 PM |

I don't blame Keira, no actor *COUGH*HAYDEN*COUGH* wants to get stuck doing one type of role for their entire career.

I tried to remember Wuthering Heights and remembered the character from Liverpool. Then i thought about Lindsay with a Liverpool accent but then remembered that character is a man (so there goes my fun) If she did do this she would most likely speak with a Yorkshire accent and even the thought of that makes me laugh so i'd be in hysterics if it was ever real |

"Get back into period costume" means she doesn't want to do movies about stuff that happened a long time ago or is set in older time periods.

Kiera is veryyyy type cast for period role pirate,pride...,atonement and I see Evan rache wood for the cast too bad that John Maybury have to work with Sienna instead of Lindsay for "Best time of our live". He want to work with Lind in the first place. |

It would be great if Lindsay could do that role. I know many people on this forum disagree with me but personally I love independent films. They feel a lot more artistically-driven rather than money-driven. And being away from L.A would be good for her.

Probably because independent films have lower budgets and less chance to rub overdone CGI in our faces The only problem I see with this role is... well, Google how many adaptations of Wuthering Heights there are already. This recent version of Pride and Prejudice did well, but I can't help but feel like Emily Bronte and Jane Austen are rolling their eyes somewhere every time someone picks up a book and goes "Hey, wait a minute..." lol |

It's such a beautiful love story. I would love to see her in this. She'd definitely bring some fire to her character. It would be such a nice change from the other stuff she's done.
